Marjie Faye (Taylor) Rogers went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2024 at the age of 95 years.
Graveside services for Marjie will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Jarrod Neal, pastor at First Methodist Church, officiating.
Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory
Following the service, friends and family will gather at the home of Dana Terry.
Marjie Faye Rogers was born in Pampa, Gray County, Texas on May 11, 1929 to William (Bill) Francis Taylor and Monta Taylor. The oldest of three children. She was a lifelong resident of Gray County.
Marjie was a proud Pampa Harvester fan from the class of 1947. She attended Texas Christian University and graduated with the class of 1951. Marjie was a Horned Frog fan forever.
She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church where she served communion and led hymns at Coronado Nursing Center for 37 years.
Marjie loved and was a member of the First Methodist Church since 2019 and appreciated getting escorted in by many handsome gentlemen.
Marjie taught many students in her years at Horace Mann Elementary, Austin Elementary and Woodrow Wilson Elementary. She expected the most that her students could give.
At retirement in 1990, she went to work at Dana’s travel agency and got to explore a lot of our world. She was known to mail her dirty clothes back to Pampa to make room for souvenirs.
To her family, she was better known as Grandma Marjie or Tattee. She said that it was the best times ever being with her Grands and Great Grands.
Marjie loved playing cards and games, and she loved to win. She said that her favorite days were with her friends at Bridge Club, lunch with the Wayside Club, and getting her hair done. She was also a talented seamstress and made many beautiful clothes and costumes through the years.
Marjie loved her family fiercely and attended as many concerts, games, stock shows, and other activities as she could. She was a wonderful hostess and cook.
Marjie is preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Katie Taylor; and her son-in-law, Bebo Terry.
She is survived by daughter, Dana Terry of Pampa; son, Tibby Rogers and wife Terrie of Amarillo; sister, Lynn Bowermon and Larry of Buda, Texas; four grandchildren, Gainum Rogers and Ashley, Mary Taylor Ibarra and Jesus, all of Amarillo, Elizabeth Van Hersh and Rick of Plainview, and Dr. Emily Terry-White and Ben of Perryton; seven great-grandchildren Liam and Blakeleigh Rogers, Rory, Rhett, and Vivian Ibarra, John William and Emma Van Hersh.
