Martha RoJean Sublett, 89, of Amarillo and formerly of Pampa, passed away, Saturday, November 28, 2020 in Amarillo.

Services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, December 4, 2020 at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Livestream will be available on the Central Baptist Church Facebook page.

Martha will be available for viewing on Thursday from 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Martha was born in Gray County on March 25, 1931 to Mary Snyder and James Cupp. She attended school in Alanreed and Pampa. After high school., she enrolled and attended college. She would meet the love of her life, Norman Sublett and they later married on September 5, 1947 in Lefors. They shared 65 good years together before he preceded her in death on December 20, 2012. Martha worked in the Oil & Gas industry for Leonard Hudson drilling where she was the executive secretary and treasurer, later retiring after several years of service. 

Martha was an active lady and member of several groups and organizations which included the Desk and Derrick Club of Pampa where she served in several capacities and eventually as President. She later became the President of the International Association of Desk & Derrick Clubs. She was also a member of the Pampa Women’s Golf Association and helped with the Girls Scouts and Brownie Troop. She was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church. Martha will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and her family was the center of her life and she was always there to take care of them.

She loved to cook and was known for her dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls. Martha also liked to golf and scrapbook. 

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two sons, Norman Larry Sublett and Darrel Sublett.

Her survivors include her daughter, Debby Howard and husband Robert of Amarillo; a daughter-in-law, Jane Sublett and fiancée Dan Rockwell of Dallas; three sisters, Nancy Johnston of Harmond, LA, Betty Flinchum and husband Alton of Oklahoma City, OK, and Angie Goldsmith and husband Leon of Pampa; two brothers, John Atchley and wife Jean of Arp, and Lanny Atchley and wife Liz of Clarksville; a grandson, Corey Sublett and wife Julie of McMinnville, OR; two granddaughters, Jill Henkel of Pampa, and Jessica Fitzgerald and husband Aidan of Landers, CA; three step-granddaughters, Ashley Parker and husband Beau of Portland, OR, Sarah McKinney and husband Patrick of Amarillo, and Emily Howard of Denver, CO; a step-grandson, Benjamin Hannah of Portland, OR; three great-grandchildren, Mia, James, and Scarlet Sublett, all of McMinnville, OR; nine step-grandchildren, Calvin, Maddy, Jackson, Isaac, Solomon, Brayden, Bodhi, Lauren, and Brooks; and other extended family.
