Mary Carol Harper, 91, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022 in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at the Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Rev. Murray Gossett, associate pastor at the First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Carol was born on December 19, 1930 in Roberts County to Fred and Stella Herndon Sloan, Sr. She was graduated from Pampa High School in 1949. Carol then attended Texas Tech. She married William “Bill” Harper on November 28, 1954 in Portales, New Mexico. Soon after they were married, they moved to Santa Fe. In 1956, they moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico and resided there for 30 years. After leaving New Mexico, they moved to Corsicana before moving to Amarillo in 1991. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo for many years.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Bill Harper; her son, David Harper; two brothers, Herndon Sloan and Fred Sloan, Jr.; four sisters-in-law, Betty Sloan, Leona Sloan, Lillian Sloan, and Leatrice Sloan.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Donna Harper of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Doug Harper and D’Ana Harper both of Amarillo; one great-grandchild, Beau Harper of Lubbock; and two siblings, Margie Walters of Houston and Jack Sloan of Pampa.
