Mary Louisa Britton Cantrell, 74, of Pampa passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at her home in Pampa.

Services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with John Curry officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Mary was born May 24, 1948 in Lake Village, Arkansas to P.R. and Louisa Britton.  She graduated from Pampa High School in the class of 1967. After high school she attended and graduated from Texas Women’s University with a bachelor’s degree in Library Science and American and Foreign Government. She was a just a few hours short of having a triple minor in American, European, and African History.  On September 3, 1980, she married Thomas Cantrell at the First United Methodist Church Chapel in Pampa. She was a longtime member of FUMC and was active in her Sunday School class for many years.  She also was involved with other women of the church who served the Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, and Rotary Club for years in the basement of the church.  Mary was an avid reader, a member of the DAR, and historical society. She also enjoyed searching up genealogy in her spare time. The past several years, Mary was involved in The Great Courses. She was able to get the notes and lectures on just about any subject she wanted to.  Mary overcame a lot of obstacles in her lifetime, dealing with a Tracheal Web condition, which caused her difficulty with her hearing and speech.  She had a caring and loving heart and will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, William R. Britton.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Cantrell of the home; and 4 cousins.
