Mildred Marie Matthews, age 93, of Mabank, Texas passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022. Mildred was born February 11, 1928 in Jerico, Texas; to parents, Cloyed Leroy Spangler and Eva Bural. She was a doting mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, who loved spending time with family. Mildred, also known as “Mickey”; was a creative and artistic woman, who enjoyed crafting and crocheting, even after her cataracts impaired her sight. She worked for GNC for a short time; owned a ceramic store, named, ETC Junction that later became a pet store. Mildred will be truly missed by all of those she loved and met.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cloyed Leroy Spangler and Eva Bural; husband, Billie Basel Matthews; brother, Ernie Spangler; sister, Georgia Whatley; children, Billie David Matthews, Betty Millard, Janice Ridenour, and Rachael Clark.
Mildred is survived by her granddaughter, who she raised as her daughter, Marie Stroud of Mesquite, TX.; grandchildren, David Lovell of Mabank, TX., Drucilla Farlow and husband Steve of Billings, MN., Troy Pilkington of Mabank, TX., Pamala Clark of Mabank, TX., Eva Kent and husband Michael of Seven Points, TX., Billie Lee Matthews of Kaufman, TX., Larry Matthews and wife Kandi of Palestine, TX., Gary Matthews of Seven Points, TX., 18 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, February 4, 2022 at 10:00am in the Chapel of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home; located at 601 S. 3rd St. Mabank, TX. 75147. A Graveside service will occur after, at Shamrock City Cemetery; located in Shamrock, TX.
