Morris wins treasurer, Arrington re-elected to commissioner

Elaine Morris will take over as County Treasurer in 2023 while Lake Arrington will start his second term as the County Commissioner for Precinct 2.

Morris received 1,615 (63 percent) of the votes while Barb Hahn received 920 (36 percent) on Election Day to secure the Treasurer’s Office. Arrington received 378 (63 percent) and opponent Solomon Cruz received 214 (36 percent).

In the race for House District 88, Ken King (R-Canadian) received 13,556 (65 percent) of the votes while Ted Hutto (R-Pampa) received 7,292 (35 percent) of the votes state-wide. Locally, Hutto received 1,451 (54 percent) of the votes while King received 1,213 (45 percent) of the votes.

Locally (*denotes won at state level), Governor Greg Abbott* received 68 percent of the votes for the governor’s race, Dan Patrick* received 75.55 for Lieutenant Governor, Ken Paxton received 49.92 of the votes for Attorney General (will face George P. Bush in a run-off), Glenn Hagar* received 84 percent for Comptroller of Public Accounts, Dawn Buckingham* received 43.79 percent for Commissioner of General Land Office, Sid Miller* received 54.43 percent for Commissioner of Agriculture, Wayne Christian received 43.55 percent for Railroad Commissioner (will face Sarah Stogner in a run-off), Evan Young* received 60.41 percent for Texas Supreme Court Place 9, Scott Walker* received 59 percent for Court of Criminal Appeals Place 5, Jay Johnson received 76 percent of the votes locally for State Board of Education District 15 (Aaron Kinsey wins 52-47 percent at the state).

In the local Democratic primary, Beto O’ Rourke* received 81 percent of the votes for governor, Mike Collier received 40 percent of the votes (will face Michelle Beckley in a run-off) for Lt. Governor, Rochelle Mercedes received 49 percent of the votes for Attorney General (will face Lee Merritt in run-off), Janet T. Dudding received 39 percent for Comptroller (will face Angel Luis Vega in run-off), Sandragrace Martinez and Jay Kleberg each received 28 percent of the votes (will face each other in run-off) and Susan Hays* received 79 percent of the vote for Agriculture Commissioner.
