Bonny Cunningham is taking on new duties as the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Better Living for Texans agent in Potter County, effective Jan. 15. Cunningham is currently a program assistant in that office.

“I’m pleased that Bonny has accepted this opportunity to expand her role with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service,” said Brandon Dukes, AgriLife Extension district administrator, Amarillo. “She has been an asset to Potter County in her role as program assistant, and I know she will be an asset in her new role giving leadership to the BLT program.”

Cunningham is a native of Canyon and earned her bachelor’s degree in agriculture communications degree from West Texas A&M University.

She has spent the past year in the AgriLife Extension office in Potter County helping with programs such as the Learn, Grow, Eat and Go program and the Egg to Chick program as well as working with Catholic Charities of Amarillo, the Women, Infants and Children, or WIC, program, Warford Activity Center, and Maverick Boys and Girls Club teaching different programs.

Cunningham said she grew up in the 4-H program showing horses, and her brother also became a county agent, so she knew what the agency had to offer.

“I wanted a new adventure, and I’m really interested in nutrition and health and helping my community,” Cunningham said. “This Better Living for Texans position is the perfect opportunity to do all of that.

“I’m excited about working with the refugee families in Amarillo and reaching more of the overall population here, especially those in most need of our educational programs,” she said. “I hope to reach out to more non-profit organizations so I can make a greater number of people aware of what AgriLife Extension has to offer them.”
