Nita Joyce (Spear) Williams, aged 94, passed away on September 6, 2024, in Georgetown, Texas. 

Born on September 20, 1929, in Cunningham, Texas, Nita lived a life marked by commitment to her family and community.

Nita pursued her teaching credentials at Texas A&M - Commerce followed later by a Masters degree from Texas A&M - College Station. 

She taught briefly around Paris, Texas before starting her family and moving to Pampa, Texas. 

Here she taught science and home economics at Pampa Junior High and then Pampa High School. Her last several years of teaching were in the sciences at Bonham Junior High in Temple, Texas. 

Her enduring influence is reflected by the number of students she affected and instilled a wish to pursue learning, especially in the sciences, over her 38 years of teaching.

Nita was unendingly supportive of her beloved husband, Jack C. Williams, whom she married on August 27, 1950. They had a special bond and a shared sense of humor that delighted their family and friends.

She was a devoted member of the Western Hills Church of Christ, where she participated actively in the community.

Nita is preceded in death by her husband, Jack, who passed away in November of 2007 after 57 years of marriage, as well as her parents, Miles “Pete” Oral Spear and Claris Gerenia (Kennedy) Spear.

She leaves behind a legacy through her children, Karen Williams Tarpley and her husband Wesley, and Wayne S. Williams and his wife Catherine; Her cherished grandchildren Lauren Baker (Randy), Alexandra Byars (Carl), Esther Sanchez (Enrique), Luke Harris (Danielle), Waverly Williams, and Merriweather Williams. She also had the joy of knowing her great-grandchildren Gabriel Weimer, Baley Baker, Sutton Byars, Sadie Byars, Gabrielle Harris, Grace Harris, and Cyrus Sanchez.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Bellwood Cemetery in Temple, Texas.
