Ola Maye “Mazi” Scribner Williams, a notable 90 years of age, recently of Pampa, peacefully passed from this life into a long-anticipated eternity with her beloved Lord and Savior on the morning of Friday, August 6, 2021, at home surrounded by family.  She was born on December 30, 1930, to James Arch and Flora Mae Scribner in Old Mobeetie, Texas.

Following her high school graduation, Mazi married Afton Anson “Curly” Williams, Sr on November 27, 1949, and together they made life an adventure.  They owned auto parts stores in Amarillo as well as in Santa Fe, New Mexico and she also took on the role as bookkeeper for the one in Santa Fe.  The two of them packed up the family and traveled where employment led them from local Amarillo or Santa Fe, New Mexico to Fairbanks and even Barrow, Alaska.  While Curly worked his various jobs, Mazi always found work in bookkeeping wherever they lived.

Although life may have been a little hectic or unfamiliar at times, Mazi always remained calm and had a relatively tranquil and serene aura that helped to sooth her family and friends.  Being raised in a spiritual home, she felt very strongly about passing those teachings down to her family as well.  Never one to shy away from her beliefs, she spoke of and shared Christ at every given opportunity.  Her greatest desire was to have all of her family and friends accept Christ in order to spend eternity with her in Heaven.  Mazi was extremely dedicated to reading her Bible everyday for hours, not to mention her devotion as a prayer warrior for family, friends, loved ones, those she didn’t even know and for our country.  She always kept up with current events and prayed God’s divine intervention over the Earth.  Mazi was very determined to set things right when wrong and certainly believed in taking a stand for truth!  Her quick and witty responses as well as her fun, friendly and spiritual nature will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mazi is preceded in death by her loving husband, Afton Anson “Curly” Williams, Sr; parents, James Arch Scribner, and Flora Mae Morgan Scribner; brothers, James Dalton Scribner, Lawrence M. Scribner, Charles Glen Scribner, Jerald Wayne Scribner, Johnny Lee Scribner; sisters, LaNell Scribner Leonard, and Marie Scribner Kilcrease.

She leaves here to cherish her memories a sister, Naomi “Dutch” Scribner Elliot; brother, Archie Jean Scribner and wife Judy; brother-in-law, George Kilcrease; daughters, Pam Shelden and husband Billy, De’Aun Chavez and husband Ben; son, Afton “Cap” Williams, Jr; 13 grandchildren, Benny Chavez and wife Kristy, Terra Scott and husband Jason, Breanne Schwiegerath and husband Troy, Douglas Chavez and wife Tristan, Craig Chavez, Jeffrey Chavez and wife Tamara, Ian Berry, Ashley Loe and husband Damon, Caleb Williams, Zak Williams, Jesse Caddell and husband Adam, Jeb Shelden and wife Madison, Bailey Waters and husband Austin and 27 great and great-great-grandchildren, not to mention the plethora of nieces, nephews and extended family Mazi loved and cherished.
