One killed in crash north of Panhandle Thursday

Rainy conditions are being blamed for a one-vehicle wreck north of Panhandle that killed a Borger woman.

A 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander driven by Linda Conley, 50, Stinnett, was traveling south on State Highway 207 during a severe rainstorm.

Texas DPS says the vehicle was traveling at an unsafe speed for the conditions and struck a large pool of standing water causing the driver to lose control.

The vehicle hydroplaned and rolled onto the driver side into a drainage ditch that contained approximately three feet of flowing water. Multiple good samaratians stopped and assisted with uprighting the vehicle.

Pamela Peterson, 54, Borger, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Conley was transported to Amarillo’s Northwest Texas Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries where she was treated and later released.

The crash remains under investigation. Information may change, be corrected, or added based on the investigators findings.
