One killed in vehicle/train wreck outside of Clarendon

An Amarillo woman was killed in a car versus train wreck outside of Clarendon on Friday night.

At 11 p.m. Friday, Jennifer Bentley, 35, Amarillo, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Impala south on County Road 8 in Donley County 3.1 miles west of Clarendon.

Bentley traveled onto the railroad tracks in the path of an approaching train. The train struck the vehicle on the passenger side by the train and was thrust to the northeast side of the rail road tracks.

Bentley was pronounced deceased on the scene by Donley County Justice of the Peace, Pat White. Her passenger, Armondo Elizondo, 41, Wichita Falls, was transported to Amarillo’s Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo with serious injuries and in critical condition.
