One killed in wreck north of Dumas

An Amarillo man was killed in a wreck north of Dumas on Farm-to-Mark Road 119.

A 2005 Ford Mustang, driven by Jason Wood, Amarillo, was traveling north on FM 119 at 6:35 a.m. on Friday morning in Moore County.

For an unknown reason, Wood veered into and across the southbound lane where it left the roadway, entered the barrow ditch in a side skid and struck a tree.

The crash remains under investigation. Information may change, be corrected, or added based on the investigator’s findings.

Two killed in crash north of Panhandle

Two people were killed in a crash north of Panhandle Friday afternoon.

At around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, a 2013 Ford Fusion, driven by Bailey Chisum, 18, Borger, was driving north on State Highway 207 about 10 miles north of Panhandle.

A 2019 Honda Civic, driven by Suzie Hembree, 47, Seymor, Texas, was driving south on SH 207.

According to DPS, the driver of the Fusion was driving at unsafe speed for the wet conditions and lost control of the vehicle. The Fusion went into a side skid to the right and traveled into the southbound lane. The Civic’s front end struck the front right side of the Fusion.

Chisum was pronounced deceased at the scene by Carson County Justice of the Peace Jean Hardman. Hembree was transported by air ambulance to Amarillo Northwest Texas Hospital with life-threatening injuries where she later died from the injuries sustained in the crash.
