‘Ordinary Elephant’ - Americana At Its Finest

Posted

On Thursday, February 16th the Woody Guthrie Folk Music Center is proud to present an amazing extraordinarily talented husband-wife duo to Pampa. Ordinary Elephant is an unusual name for sure, but it gets your attention as these folks do when you listen to their beautiful harmonies and old-time melodies that are right at home here in 2023. The show starts at 6pm and the doors are open at 5pm at 320 S Cuyler St. Seating is limited, so get there a little early. It’s a donation show and this time we are suggesting a $10 donation for a special cause. We are raising money for harmonicas for a wonderful group of kids at the Community Christian School. So, you can treat you’re your sweetie to a Valentine’s concert and hear some of the best Americana/Folk music available today and help some children learn the joy of music all at the same time.

Ordinary Elephant was the recipient of the International Folk Music Awards 2017 Artist of the Year. Ordinary Elephant captivates audiences with their emotionally powerful and vulnerable songs, letting the listener know that they are not alone in this world. The collaboration of husband and wife Pete and Crystal Damore, their connection, and their influences (such as Gillian Welch, Guy Clark, Anais Mitchell) all meet on stage.

“Two become one, in song...hand-in-glove harmonies surprise the listener with focused intensity and musical mastery,” says Mary Gauthier. The Associated Press is calling their latest album, Honest, “one of the best Americana albums of the year.”

“We have many more shows lined up, so keep your ears open for what’s next,” Michael Sinks said. “And, as always, we have our weekly jam sessions every Friday evening from 6pm till 8:30 and the Woody Guthrie Folk Music Center is open for visiting Tuesday thru Friday from 10am – 5pm and by appointment. 806 665 0883.”
