Pampa Altrusa Club meeting

Posted

Altrusa International of Pampa, Texas, Inc. met on Nov. 10, 2020 with president, Sheila Winton presiding. Kadda Schale served as greeter. There were no guests. The president announced that attendance for meetings will be at 50% of room capacity and masks are encouraged. Disposable masks will be made available. For those unable to attend, meetings will be held on Zoom and/or Facebook Live.

The Accent was given by Kadda Schale who reported on facts regarding Veterans Day. Originally called Armistice Day, it was for commemorating the end of World War I.  In 1954, after World War II and the Korean War, Veterans service organizations asked Congress to change the wording  from “armistice” to “veterans” so the day would honor American veterans of all wars. Veterans Day honors all of those  who have served the country in war or peace. The Veterans Day National Ceremony is held each year at 11 a.m. November 11 at Arlington National Cemetery.
