Pampa EDC to move into Chamber of Commerce building

The Pampa Economic Development Corporation will soon have a new home at the former Chamber of Commerce building located at 200 North Ballard.

The Board of Directors for the EDC approved the purchase of the building on Thursday during their regularly-scheduled meeting.

“The City is transferring ownership of that building to us with all of the expenses,” Pampa EDC Board President Glennette Goode said. “Resound is doing very well and our office is in the same building that they purchased. They asked for us to find another location before our contract is up because they need the space. Which is wonderful. We’re all about trying to give people the ability to expand in Pampa.”

The move will allow the EDC will be able to conduct board meetings at their own location.

“The Nona Payne room (the smaller board room) will be reserved for our meetings, it’ll no longer be for public rental,” Goode said.

The Chamber will be allowed to stay in the building, just not in the same office space.

The EDC will officially have the building Oct. 1, but needs to do some renovating. Goode said her goal was to be in the new building by mid-November.

Executive Director Clay Rice also gave the Board a report.

“We have people coming to us now, instead of us having to go out and beat the bushes,” Goode said. “I’m not saying we’re not trying to go find people, but we have people coming to find us. If they are interested in us to begin with, that’s half the battle.”

Goode added that the EDC will be above budget as it relates to the sales tax revenue generated.

The EDC Board also renewed their contract with Phenyx, who does their website marketing.

“The previous website was very static,” Goode said. “The only thing that changed on it was our agendas and minutes.”

Goode added the new website will always be a “work in progress” and said it has been well-received by potential clients.

“The goal is to promote Pampa, not just the EDC,” Goode said. “Whether it’s a property we have or not, but it’s conduit if someone is interested in coming to Pampa.

The Pampa EDC Board also approved the following items:

• Minutes for the Aug. 19, 2021 meeting.

• Engage the auditing firm of Doshier, Pickens and Francis LLC. to perform the 2020-21 Annual Audit.
