Pampa Home & Sleep Store moves into new downtown location

After nine years at their previous location in Las Pampas Square, Pampa Home & Sleep Store has moved into their new downtown location at 200 N. Cuyler Street.

Owner Michael Anderson said he and his wife, Devney, decided to make the move to help revitalize downtown.

“We wanted to be more in control of our destiny,” Anderson said. “A big part of our dream when we first came to Pampa was to be a big part of helping to revitalize, rebirth and renew (downtown). We were always looking for the perfect opportunity to go and do something to contribute to the community. Being in a small business, it needs to be more about the community than us.”

Anderson added some of the perks of their new building includes 30 percent more showroom space and control over maintenance.

“It allows us to show our goods in one way,” Anderson said. “Our space in the old building was divided into two spots and tucked back in the corner. By not owning, we were not able to control the maintenance.”

Pampa Home will also be able to lower the cost to the customers.

“We’re in a market where prices are skyrocketing left and right,” Anderson said. “Goods are hard to get. People are ready to buy and manufacturers cannot come close to keeping up with the demand. They are also having a hard time getting the materials. So their prices keep escalating.

“By doing this (moving), we’ve controlled our costs and now we can help reduce our customers’ costs.”

Pampa Home has seven on staff who not only will sell the furniture, but offers to help with interior design and will go above and beyond to get the chosen product.

“If we don’t have it we will find a way to get it,” Anderson said. “Our prices are lower than any other stores in Amarillo, Pampa, Oklahoma City, etc. We will happily meet or beat any price from any legitimate, brick-and-mortar competitor.

“We also don’t have random people working for us. Everyone is family or basically family. People we go to church with or very well connected to. We take the fact we go into someone’s home very seriously.”

Pampa Home and Sleep Store carries the top brands of a variety of products.

“We carry several name brands,” Anderson said. “Mattresses are still one of the main things we do and we carry Serta, Tempur-Pedic, iComfort and we have access to several other brands.

“We have a furniture brand called Best Furniture, which is 100 percent customizable. They have over 700 fabrics to choose from. If you don’t like how the arm feels, pick a different arm.”

Anderson said Pampa Home only carries new furniture, no used or refurbished.

Pampa Home offers cash-and-carry, financing and no credit check financing.

“Everything we do is to try and help customers,” Anderson said.

Pampa Home and Sleep Store also has a little play area for children as another way to take the stress off of the customers.

“When people come in to shop, we’ve got games and toys for the kids to hang out and play,” Anderson said. “People come in all of the time with kids and they can’t think because the kids are burned out [or hyper].”

The Andersons also purchased the old Capri theater down the street from the store. Since the theater is unable to be remade into a theater, it will be the warehouse for the store.
