The Pampa Lady Harvesters’ (26-17) season came to an end on Monday evening in a loss to Hereford (15-25, 11-25, 6-25). “I told them after the game that not all teams are fun to coach,” Head Coach Kayele Samulowitz said. “But this team was special in that they always had a good time. They got along and always did what I asked them to do. We just had fun. We were thinking back to tournaments and the last time we were in this gym (River Road) we had six injuries. We just overcame a lot. I’m really proud of them. They surprised some people with how they finished this year. I’m just proud of them.” The Lady Harvesters’ lone senior this season was Haley Fossett. “She (Haley Fossett) has meant a ton. She led by example. Put in a lot of work in the offseason,” Samulowitz said. “Most people don’t even know because a lot of our kids play multiple sports, but she (Haley) was there every day working hard for this season. It showed in the way that she played and how her teammates respected her. I think she left this program better than she found it and set an example for future seniors to come.” The Lady Harvesters will have a lot of experience going into next year, including eight incoming seniors. “We have eight juniors coming back next year,” Samulowitz said. “It’ll be nice to have experience. This year gave us that. A lot of people played a lot of different positions. One thing we struggled with this year was confidence and believing in ourselves. So hopefully next year, having such an experienced group, that’s something we can build on.” Unofficial Stats: Valeri Anguiano had one assist and one dig; Mikalie Floyd had six kills, one ace and six digs; Maecie Hawthorne had one kill, 12 assists, one ace and five digs; Hallie Hawthorne had two kills and three digs; Ariel Lachr had one kill and three digs; Haley Fossett had one kill and eight digs; Mazi Smith had four kills; Zoe Downs had one dig; Zoe Downs had one kill.
