Pampa-natives operates contracting company in Amarillo and Pampa

Nick Robbins, Chase Brewer and Dustin Kuhn are Pampa natives who started Texas Plains Contractors in 2016 as a roofing company. Over the years, the company has expanded their services.

“We’ve met the right people and we now offer full exterior renovation,” Robbins said. “We do roofs, gutters, seamless gutters and fascia, soffit and windows. Pretty much anything on the exterior that can be improved.”

The business operates out of two offices, Amarillo and Pampa, and serves a 90-mile radius from either office.

Along with the trio, the company has two other employees.

A roof is a major investment for a house and sometimes can be hard to determine if it’s in need of replacement to the untrained eye.

“After a rain event, you may notice a lot of granules in your flower bed or around the base of your house,” Robbins said. “There is a lot of soft metals on your roof for exhaust vents and if those look beat-up or dented, you might need at least a roof inspection.”

The exterior of house can aesthetically improve the value of your home, but it can also help the foundation.

“It can help the foundation from washing away,” Robbins said. “Installing new fascia metal and soffit can allow for a maintenance-free exterior as well as siding. You don’t have to paint metal fascia, where as paint over a hot-cold climate tends to flake after several years.”

Kuhn recommended home-owners maintain a general knowledge of their roof to better plan when a replacement may be needed.

“Most home-owners have no idea,” Kuhn said. “Without an honest contractor available, they don’t know which direction to head with their roof and what kind of maintenance needs to be done.”

It’s well-documented that the Texas Panhandle is prone to wind and hail events, which is hard on roofs.

“If there is ever a wind or hail event, it’s in the owners’ best interest to have the property inspected,” Kuhn said. “We don’t charge an inspection fee and a lot of times the insurance will cover it if there is enough damage there. At that time, all the owner is responsible for is their deductible.”

The trio, Texas Plains Contractors, said they are going to do what they tell the home-owner they are going to do and provide honest service by adding equity to the home.

Robbins added the company is community-driven, as well.

“We’ve partnered with High Plains Food Bank out of Amarillo,” Robbins said. “A portion of all of our sales goes to alleviate hunger on the Texas Plains.”

Kuhn said while the company was started for the three to have their own business, they wanted to make an impact in the communities they live in.

“It’s kind of cool to take a house that’s been damaged due to wind/weather event, or just wear/tear over the years and bring life to it,” Kuhn said. “We’re here to stay and every job we do has our name on it. We take pride in our name and pride in the company we are trying to build.”
