The Annual Lighting up the Bricks event is set to kick off tomorrow night on Cuyler street at 5 p.m.
“Friday is our Lighting of the Bricks event when all of the Downtown businesses will turn on their Christmas lights. We already have lights on the trees, but for the buildings it will be the beginning of the Christmas season,” said President of the Downtown Business Association and owner of the Sparrow’s Nest, Jill Price.
Santa is expected to make an appearance as well.
“Santa Claus will be in town and will be strolling around. He’ll go into all of the businesses and he’ll be walking the sidewalks,” Price said.
“There are around 14 Downtown businesses participating that will be open from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. There will be dining and shopping.”
“I can imagine that there will be door prizes and specials. We’re also doing a drawing like we normally do for our events, but it’s going to be a virtual drawing. It will be held at C&A Stitching, a newer business in town. There will be several gifts from all the businesses and gift cards,” Price said.
Tickets will be given away with each purchase to be added to the drawing, which will take place shortly after 9:15 p.m.
Those who plan to attend he event are askeed to bing a mask.
“We ask that people bring a mask. It might be required to wear it in some of the businesses during the event, because we expect it to be busier than our regular business hours. We want everyone to be protected.”
“Please come out and support your local small businesses this holiday season. It’s important during the time we are going through, especially with the pandemic,” Price said.
