Patsy Newton, 92, of Pampa, passed away on Tuesday. November 16, 2021 in Pampa.
Memorial graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Jared McKinney, pastor at Hillside Christian Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Patsy was born on August 5, 1929 in Childress to George W. and Bessie Dezern. She was reared in Pampa. Patsy married Maurice Newton on March 23, 1946. She and Maurice were former members of the First Baptist Church, where she taught children’s Sunday school. Patsy and Maurice raised two sons, Michael and Buddy, and one daughter, Teresa “Cookie”, in the church. She volunteered in the nursery and helped anywhere she saw a need. Patsy had a deep love for the Lord. She worked at B&B Pharmacy and Highland Pharmacy for several years. She loved her work and all the friends she made. Patsy and Maurice moved to Austin following Maurice’s job with the Texas Highway Department. They retired in Kerrville until Maurice’s passing in 2016.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years; her two sons, Michael and Buddy; three sisters, Donna, Mary, and Betty; and 2 brothers, Alvin and John.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Gamblin and husband Kris of Pampa; 5 grandchildren, David Gamblin and wife Michelle of Celina, Kyle Gamblin and wife Amy of Pampa, Barry Newton and wife Lyndsey of Weatherford, Michael Newton and wife Christine, Tammy Aldrich, and Rob Munson all of New Hampshire; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and friends.
