PHS Tennis: Bagwell and Ketchum Qualify for Regionals

Posted

The duo played district play Monday and Wednesday and the team of Mason Bagwell/Terry Ketchum qualified for regionals in boys doubles finishing 2nd. They went 3-1 beating Randall #2 team in the First round 2-6 6-4 6-2, then beat Dumas 6-0 6-0. In the semifinals they played Canyon in a very exciting match losing the first set 0-6 only to come back in a hard fought second set winning 6-3 then 6-3 in the third set for the win. In the finals they fell to a good Randall team 3-6 2-6. In other play the mixed team of Madi Sloan/Clark Allen won their first match against West Plains in a great match but then they lost their next match against Randall in a tough match. Kaden Brown in boys singles won his first match against Dumas then ended up losing the next match against Borger. Ruth Gaite won first in default then lost next round. The teams of McKenzie Woods/ Samantha Alderete in girls doubles , Eric Vick/ Jorge Estrada in boys doubles , Brookelyn Sirmans in mixed doubles Brandon Martinez in boys singles all played some of their best tennis this year but it just didn’t fall their way losing in the first round. Every player played hard and I could not be more proud of their performance. Regionals will be next Wednesday and Thursday in Lubbock.
