PHS Weekly Update

One of the perks of my job is getting to shadow our students as they showcase their skills. This is such a cool process as I get to share in their moments of jubilation and share in their sorrow in moments of defeat. The Lady Harvester Basketball team won in convincing fashion over Midland Greenwood in their first round playoff game. It was so awesome to see their smiles and listen to their excitement. Sadly, their playoff run ended Friday against El Paso Riverside. The agony of defeat is always so hard to bare but our girls have nothing to be sad about as they accomplished so much this season and were a joy to watch. Monday evening the Lady Harvester Softball team kicked off their season by run ruling 5A Tascosa! Tuesday, both the Harvester and Lady Harvester soccer teams earned district victories over Dumas. Wednesday was School Resource Officer Day. At PHS, we are blessed to house a full time SRO who takes great pride in his work and provides care to our campus. We are definitely blessed by Officer Geoff Bowley and thankful that the community allows us to partner with him and the rest of the Pampa Police Department. On Thursday, representatives from the Pampa Education Foundation graced us by awarding grant monies to several of our staff. Congratulations to PHS Choir teachers Brianna Montgomery and Tammy May, Band Director Andy Sedlacek, Art teacher Stephanie Boyd, Health Science teachers Theresa Cline and Shawn Moore, and Welding teacher Rex Childress on receiving these grants to fund their program needs. The Pampa Education Foundation handed out over $20,000 in grant money to campus across Pampa ISD this week and we are so thankful for their support of our staff and students. Friday and Saturday featured a full slate of extracurricular activities as the Harvester Soccer completed the season sweep of West Plains, our Lady Harvesters Soccer team hosted West Plains, Harvester Tennis traveled to Seminole, Harvester Baseball had a strong showing as they scrimmaged Tascosa, and Lady Harvester Softball tangled with multiple 5A and 6A schools in Lubbock for their first tournament of the season. February has been a blast and I’m so thankful I get to share my days with the wonderful staff and students at Pampa High School (we’re by no means perfect but we’re striving to be). They are the ones who make it a joy and a blessing to serve in my position. It’s a great day to be a Harvester!
