Pampa High School staff and students had a barrage of honors bestowed on them this week. Art students Wyatt Johnson had two of his works advance to the State Competition in April and Nahui Puentes had one of his works advance as well. Lady Harvester Softball is well represented on the Amarillo Globe News Pre-Season Softball Super Team. Congratulations to Kynleigh Kirby, Brianna Cloud, Reagan Dyer, Carsyn Hunt, and Hallie Hawthorne for representing the Lady Harvesters on this talented list. Monday we announced our 2022-2023 staff awards. Teacher of the Year for 2022-2023 is Jarilyn Wichert (CTE Culinary Arts). Emerging Teacher of the Year is Vanessa Ontiveros (CTE Computer Science). Our Paraprofessional of the Year is Melody Youree (she should get hazard pay for dealing with me on a daily basis). Their peers vote on these awards and I think all three are perfect representatives for the servant-hearted leaders we love on our campus. Congratulations ladies! This week we also hosted our Junior Class Ring Ceremony where students received their senior class rings. It was wonderful to see the support from their families in the stands as we kicked off the countdown to graduation for the class of 2024. Tuesday was a big night in athletics. Lady Harvester Softball traveled to Amarillo Caprock and left with a victory. Lady Harvester Soccer beat Perryton in a windy affair. Harvester Soccer tied Perryton to remain in the lead of the district. Thursday our One Act Play advanced from the Zone Competition to the District Competition with their rendition of William Gibson’s The Miracle Worker. It was another busy end of the week as Sawyer Burleson won the Borger Tournament for Harvester Golf, Harvester Soccer beat Borger (always great), Lady Harvester Soccer hosted Borger for senior night, Harvester Baseball took part in the Levelland Tournament, Softball hosted the annual Amy Youree Memorial Tournament at Recreation Park, Harvester Track hosted the Top ‘O Texas Relays, and Harvester Tennis was at Caprock and had several athletes leave with some hardware. Saturday, I was treated to my first ever E-Sports competition at Region 16 in Amarillo. It was so cool to see our students take on other teams from across the region. Shout out to Juan Ibanez for placing 2nd out of over 80 participants! We’ve got one more week to grow before the break and some well-deserved rest. It’s a great day to be a Harvester!
