PHS Weekly Update

Posted

One of the cool aspects about education is our field does a great job of recognizing its own. This week was Educational Diagnosticians Week as well as School Social Worker Week. PHS is blessed by the efforts of Connie Nicklas, Ky Smith, and Suzanne Pingel. These ladies do a great job of meeting the needs of our students and we are so lucky to have them! Tuesday was a busy day on campus as we brought back our Big Future Day. A huge thank you goes out to Kate Devoll for heading up this huge endeavor. Big Future Day included our Juniors taking the ACT test, our Sophomores taking the Pre-ACT exam, and our Seniors and Freshmen traveling on rotations that covered CRP training (state requirement for graduation), Police Interaction Assembly (also state graduation requirement), to how to change a tire, to “Adulting 101” that covered loans and taxes. It was a productive morning that was followed up with our Educational Career Fair in the afternoon. This fair has grown over the years under the care of Daly Mendoza and is a great opportunity for all our students to meet with local companies, colleges and universities, and branches of the military. Tuesday night saw our Lady Harvester Softball team beat West Plains in their district opener and Harvester Soccer defeated Canyon. Wednesday, the Pride of Pampa Band was at UIL Concert and Sight-reading. Both bands we took scored straight 1s (the highest ranking possible). We’re so proud of the growth and culture of this program under the direction of Mr. Sedlacek. Every judge who has rated our band this year in all competitions has rated us as a 1. Great job band! Thursday our Harvester Track teams were in Perryton and Harvester Tennis was in Amarillo. It’s always great to have numerous athletes return to Pampa with medals. Friday, our Harvester Soccer team defeated Dumas and won the District Championship! We will find out playoff pairings soon but are so proud of them being back to back District Champions! The weekend featured Harvester Golf at Amarillo, Harvester Baseball was at the Bowie Tournament, Lady Harvester Soccer was in Dumas, and Softball beat Randall in a come from behind thriller of a game. We’re excited out students and staff get to enjoy a much needed break. Be safe. Enjoy some time off. It’s a great day to be a Harvester!
