The wait for the official release was long but in no way cheapened the accolades as awards from this past girls basketball seasons were released this week. Congratulations to Berlin Bartlett (1st Team All-District), Katlyn Magers (Honorable Mention All-District), Briley Daniels (Honorable Mention All-District), and Cambree Dyer (Honorable Mention All-District). We play in arguably one of the toughest girls basketball districts in the state and for our girls to make this list is quite an accomplishment. Another accolade that took place was Lady Harvester Softball senior Hallie Hawthorne was named the Press Pass Sports Girl Athlete of the Week! In other awesome news, our Harvester Soccer team won their Bi-District Playoff game Friday against Mineral Wells! They will play in the Area round of the playoffs against El Paso Irvin in Midland on Tuesday at 4:00. Tuesday night both Lady Harvester Softball and Harvester Baseball traveled to Borger and left with district wins (always a great day when we beat out rivals). Thursday evening, PHS One Act Play offered up another great performance of “The Miracle Worker”. All cast and crew have worked hard and the show was great. Friday, our UIL Academic team competed in their district meet. Rylan Qualls placed 1st in Current Events to advance to Regionals. Other notable achievements where Alexa Trejo placing 5th in Accounting, Jose Lerma placing 4th in Current Events, Maya Bailey placed 5th in Editorial Writing, Ruth Gaite placed 5th in Persuasive Writing and Lillie Sloan placed 7th, and Kaedyn Wilkinson placed 7th in Informative Writing. Saturday, PHS hosted the UIL District Speech competition and our young team represented our community well. It’s a fun time to be at the high school and we’re blessed by our students daily. Thank you for sharing them with us and for your unwavering support of our youth. It’s a great day to be a Harvester!
