PHS Weekly Update

Sound the bells; Pampa High School has not one, but two Superintendent Scholars! Congratulations to PHS Juniors Rebekkah Ruzvidzo and Drake Pierce on this prestigious honor. We’re so proud of their academic achievement and know the long hours and hard work that took place behind the scenes for both of these students. In other academic news (and a first since I have been in Pampa), we had PHS sophomore Mia Alatorre Pineda record a perfect score on the TSIA math exam. This is a great accomplishment and one to be extremely proud of. Her sister Sofia (also a sophomore), missed a perfect score by one question. For those who don’t know, the TSIA exam determines the college readiness of students, so for us to have sophomores achieving at that level is a testament to their talent and our staff’s ability to get them prepared. Well done ladies! Congratulations to Mason Bagwell and Terry Ketchum for finishing 2nd place in boys’ doubles at district for Harvester Tennis! They will advance to the Regional Tournament in Lubbock next week. Congratulations also go out to Harvester golfer Sawyer Burleson for advancing from the district golf tournament. He will advance to the Regional Tournament at Shadow Hills in Lubbock in two weeks. Lady Harvester Soccer players received some awards from district coaches as Carolina Cano was 2nd Team All-District and Ariel Lacher and Trystan Kidd both were Honorable Mention All-District. Congratulations ladies! Harvester Baseball and Lady Harvester Softball had busy weeks. They both traveled to Randall on Monday for district matchups and hosted Hereford later in the week. Lady Harvester Softball defeated Hereford to remain in 1st place in the district race and Harvester Baseball picked up another thrilling walk-off victory to defeat Hereford to stay near the top in a tight district race for the playoffs. Harvester Track enjoyed a week of recovery before they attend their District Track Meet this week. We’re thankful for a long weekend to renew our spirits before the final push to end school. I’m thankful for our staff and our students and that they allow me to be a small part of their lives every day. It’s a great day to be a Harvester!
