PHS Weekly Update

Posted

This past week is one of my favorite weeks of the year: Teacher Appreciation Week. Pampa High School is blessed with a building full of servant-hearted educators who have devoted their lives to serving the youth of this community. Daily, I’m amazed by their outgoing spirit and resiliency to do their best to meet the needs of over 1,000 students. My challenge to you is that if you see an educator who has made a difference in your life or your child’s, please take the time to let them know you appreciate them. All too often, a see social media posts from educators who have left a campus or got out of the profession and their comments section is littered with people who are only then singing their praises. Please don’t miss an opportunity to share a well-deserved thank you.  A week is by no means enough time to shower them with appreciation, but we sure tried our best. A huge shout out goes to Pampa Lion’s Club for being on campus Thursday and treating our people to Coke floats! It’s such a blessing to be able to partner with outside organizations throughout the year. Lady Harvester Softball are Area Champions! They defeated Clint in 2 games and will take on district foe Canyon Thursday and Friday of this week in Plainview in the Regional round of the State Playoffs. Best of luck ladies! This week was also our last round of STAAR testing and we completed half of our AP (college level advanced placement) exams as well. Monday afternoon, our athletic department hosted a signing party for six of our college bound student athletes in McNeely. It was awesome to get to celebrate with them as they prepare for their next journey and this event is something we look to grow in the future. Banquets are in full swing as the end of the year looms. Speech & Debate, Theater, Band, and FFA all held their year-end banquets and celebrated their accomplishments from a busy year at Pampa High School. It’s crazy to think we are only 14 school days from the end of the year (seniors remind me of this daily). It’s a great day to be a Harvester!
