Wednesday morning the Pampa Police Department was dispatched to the 1300 block of Duncan on a domestic dispute at approximately 10:40 a.m.

Upon arrival, Pampa Police officers found that Thomas Rojas, 38, had barricaded himself into a back bedroom after threatening a family member with a large knife. Officers made contact with Rojas who was uncooperative.

The Pampa Police Department SWAT team arrived on the scene as well as negotiators from the Texas Department of Public Safety. The negotiators attempted contact through the door but negotiations were unsuccessful. At that point chemical agents were deployed by the SWAT team.

After a physical altercation with a K-9 unit from Gray County Sherriff’s Office, officers were able to subdue Rojas and take him into custody. He was transported to Pampa Regional Medical Center.

Felony charges are pending as well as a mental evaluation. The situation continues to be under investigation.
