Richard James ‘Ricky’ Velasquez

Richard James “Ricky” Velasquez, 42 years old, of Pampa, Texas, was completely healed as he took his Father’s hand Monday, November 15, 2021, and joined Him in Heaven for eternity. Ricky was born on June 7, 1979, in Canadian, Texas to Jose Rick Velasquez and Debra Hernandez.

For being so young in age, Ricky had an old soul which reflected in his eclectic taste ranging from vintage cars and classic music, to using old calligraphy in modern tattoos, which expressed his creativity and imagination. When his health would still allow, he very much enjoyed camping, fishing and just floating on the lake in relaxation. Ricky was a gifted cook who loved to eat alongside friends and family so he could share his culinary talents. Hard work was a large part of Ricky’s daily life, and he was a top-notch concrete finisher alongside his father.

Just as most, Ricky struggled in life; however, he loved the Lord and clung to Him. Those who knew Ricky, knew he was a gentle giant, so full of love and kindness. He was a big ol’ loveable teddy bear with a smile on his face, kindness in his heart and always ready to play with his nieces and nephews! Ricky’s tender heart and kind smile will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was greeted in Heaven by his grandparents, Mary Luna and Arthur Hernandez, Jesus and Lupe Velasquez, Uncle Eddie Hernandez, and Aunt Rosie DeWitt.

Ricky leaves cherished memories to, his parents, Jose Rick Velasquez of Pampa, Debra Hernandez of Amarillo; two sons, Anthony Velasquez of Illinois, Nathan Velasquez of Amarillo; a daughter, Alexis Velasquez of Amarillo; two sisters, Julie Amanda Velasquez, Jennifer Lea Velasquez both of Amarillo; a grandson, Anthony Velasquez, Jr and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members who will miss him greatly.

Celebration of Life Memorial Services are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Monday, November 22, 2021, at The Carpenter’s Church, 639 Barnes Street, Pampa, Texas with Brother Jim Sinyard officiating. The family has entrusted the cremation care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.
