Robert Lee Killebrew “Bob” age 77 passed away December 8,2021 in Monument, Colorado. Bob was born may 27,1944 in Canadian, Texas. He was the third of four sons of Wilbur Sr. Killebrew and Nellie Davidson Killebrew. He grew up on the family ranch established in the early 1800s on the Canadian River and graduated  from Canadian High School in 1961. He was active in 4H and FFA. Bob attended Texas Tech where he majored in Agriculture Economics. During the Vietnam war he was called up, but was rejected because he was 6ft 6&1/2 inches tall. The story made the front page of the Toreador. “Tech student too tall for Vietnam!” College sweethearts, Bob and Sandye Tyree of Boulder, Co. married January 21,1966. They lived in the Turkey Track Line Cabin on the ranch until their daughter Cari-Amber Tyree Killebrew was born December 7,1967. They ranched on the river for over 25 years and had a home in Pampa.. The Killebrew’s maintained a home in Lubbock Texas while Amber was in graduate school. They were members of First Baptist Church where they were active with Texas Tech International Students. They taught English as a second language, led retreats, and Bible studies and enjoyed sharing American Holidays with graduate students, professors, and medical students. In the spring the Killebrew’s were in demand at churches, and schools giving programs on the Texas Revolution. Together they brought to life the heroes of Texas.

The last  last twelve years the Killebrew’s had returned to Hemphill County where they enjoyed their wild burros, cattle, and nature’s beauty of their beloved Blue Mesa ranch..

Bob is survived by his wife Sandye Tyree Killebrew, daughter, Amber and son in law Thomas Gary and their three children Ethan Hamilton, Phoebe Elizabeth and Brinkley Noel.

Due to COVID the family will have a loving memorial service for Bob May 27, at their ranch in the Texas Panhandle.
