Seventh Annual Gray County Buyer’s Club Pig Out set for Aug. 6

The Gray County Buyer’s Club will be holding their Seventh Annual Pig Out from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6.

“We’ve got a dinner (pork tenderloin, BYOB),” Ryan Davis with the GCBC said. “We’ve got the same band, the Dixie Creek Band, coming this year sponsored by TireWorks and Service Tire Pros here in Pampa. We will also have a live and silent auction.”

The Pig Out will also serve as a kick-off for the raffle of a 2021 John Deere Gator RSX 860M and 14-foot tandem axle trailer custom-built by Trailers Etc. Raffle tickets are $25 for one or five for $100.

“That’s when we kick-off the Gator sales,” Davis said. “We will have the Gator there and people can buy tickets for it, but sales will continue into the fall up through January.”

Along with the raffle, the Pig Out serves as the primary fundraiser for the GCBC.

“What the Gray County Buyer’s Club does is help raise money for the families whose kids show (livestock),” Davis said. “We get help from the families with donations and the work that goes into it. The money we raise goes back to help kids with any of their livestock projects to help purchase an animal, help feed-cost, transportation-cost or anything they might incur throughout the season.”

Tickets for the event are $50/person or a table of eight for $350. Sponsorships are still available for the event.

Now seven years into the life of the event, Davis said that longevity wouldn’t be possible without the help of volunteers and local businesses.

“It really comes down to a lot of work from volunteers,” Davis said. “It’s the families involved like the kids who go in and help clean and gather donations. It takes a lot of feet on the ground and people willing to go ask.

“It’s also the local businesses. We could not do this without them.”
