Share the Good News

Posted

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Sharing the Good News is something that Christians need to be diligent in doing.  We are quick to talk about how God blessed us while in a worship service, but hesitant to be sharing outside the service.  The question asked in a book was – ‘What is one thing you cannot do in heaven?’  The author said, “We cannot witness to a lost person.”  That lost person can only receive a word of witness in this life.

People in every society, every city, every country, need to hear of the saving grace of Jesus Christ.  The power of the Word is power to change people and bring them under the Lordship of Christ.  It can take an addict and cleanse them.  It can take the self-righteous and reveal their need.

As we move through each day, the call continues for us to go out and share Christ.  Many times we don’t share because we are afraid.  It is my prayer that I will never back down from sharing Christ because of fear.  My prayer is that God will let me stand for Him even when fear might seek to overtake me and my voice will be His in each moment.

We are faced with what we call ‘changing times’, but in reality it is the ‘changing faces.’  When Jesus looked out at the people around Him, He said the fields were white to harvest.  He saw the faces of those around Him, but I believe He also saw the faces we see every day.  They are the ‘changing faces’ that now need to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ.

The faces have changed, but the need is the same.  People still need to hear that Jesus saves.  He saves the alcoholic from life in a bottle, an addict from a life of drugs, and more pointedly, a person separated from Him by sin from eternal damnation.  The truth we must understand is that a person can’t be saved unless they hear and they won’t hear unless someone tells them.

Paul said in Romans 10:13-15 – “for ‘Whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.’ 14 How then shall they call upon Him in whom they have not believed?  And how shall they believe in Him they have not heard?  And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent?  Just as it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings of good things!’” Our call is to take the message out to a world that is in need.

Some would say it’s the preachers’ responsibility to lead people to Christ.  I would agree.  But it is also the responsibility of every believer.  Acts 1:8 makes it clear that when the Holy Spirit touches us we are to be His witnesses.  When my heart is made right with God, I should desire to let that be known to all that I meet.  After all, if a person dies without Christ, they are separated from Him for all eternity.

I believe it is time for us to stand and testify of the saving grace of Jesus Christ.  It is time for believers to quit talking about what they believe and start living what they believe.  So, believers, do not fear, be not dismayed.  The same God who delivered you from sin is the same God who will walk with you as you meet the ‘changing faces’ you encounter in your life.  So let the ‘changing faces’ hear the unchanging testimony of our unchanging God.

Share the Good News and always remember ---

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
