The Salvation Army has received a $ 7,000 grant from Pampa United Way.

Each year, United Way gives eleven agencies grants to mobilize financial and human resources to meet human service needs. The Salvation Army has been a Pampa United Way grant recipient for over 20 years.

Shelby Huff, the Service Extension Region Representative for the Salvation Army, gave more information about the grant.

“United Way entrusts us with the funds to help the community. We are so grateful for that,” Huff said. “We use those funds to provide financial assistance to the community and emergency disaster services to the community.”

In turn, the Salvation Army helps with fundraising efforts for Pampa United Way. The Salvation Army participates in the non-profit organization’s cook-offs and food truck challenge.

Jana Gregory, the Executive Director for Pampa United Way, gave more insight into the grant process.

“The agencies we help turn in financials and that information goes before a board,” Gregory said. “After the board verifies the information, a certain amount of money is granted to the agencies. The agencies are alerted that they are grant recipients through a letter.”

Huff expressed her delight in the Salvation Army being a Pampa United Way grant recipient.

“United Way sees what we are doing for the community and I hope that the community does as well,” Huff said.

“We just really appreciate all of our agencies and what they do for the community,” Gregory said.
