In the midst of the COV ID-19 crisis, Tralee Crisis Center, a non-profit agency serving victims of violent crime, takes precautionary measures to maintain the safety of staff and clients.
On March 20, Tralee’s main office at 310 S. Cuyler in Pampa closed to the public and will remain closed until it is safe to re-open, Dee Dee Laramore, executive director, announced. Despite the physical office being closed, she said, Tralee’s social worker, advocates and crisis support services staff will continue to aid victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and other violent crimes by telephone and audio/visual technology. Tralee’s safe shelter is open and shelter advocates are assisting resident clients, she added. At this time, though, all available rooms are full, she said.
These precautions have not affected Tralee’s 24-hour hotline, 806-669-1788 or 1-800-658-2796, which is answered day or night, 7 days a week, according to Laramore. For non-emergencies, general information or continuing services for established clients, contact the Tralee main office by calling 806-669-1131, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., she said, adding that any person in immediate danger should call 9-1-1.
Tralee’s Thriftique closed on Tuesday, April 1, following Gov. Greg Abbot’s recommendations which were announced on March 31. The thrift store will be closed until April 30 or possibly longer, Laramore said. Tralee will not be able to accept any clothing, household or furniture donations during this time. She said that monetary donations, however, are welcome and greatly needed to help meet the demands this crisis has placed on the agency. All donations are tax-deductible.
