Vallarta’s enjoys a busy first two weeks in Pampa

Vallarta’s Mexican Grill opened their fourth location, their first in Pampa, two weeks ago at 855 W. Kingsmill. Their other three locations are in Guymon, Okla., Dodge City, Kan. and Hugoton, Kan.

Vallarta’s offers a wide variety of food on their menu.

“We have a really huge menu,” manager Heather Uribe said. “We have a different flavor and offer seafoods, salads, steaks, chicken, fajitas (five different kinds), desserts, the best tamales ever and a really good bar. Our margaritas are really good with quite a selection of tequilas.”

On top of their tequila-based drinks, Vallarta’s is learning other popular drink requests from customers.

“We have people come in and ask for a drink that might be popular somewhere else,” Uribe said. “They tell us what it is and we will make it the way they want.”

Uribe said business has been almost non-stop since they opened.

“The people have been good here,” Uribe said. “We’ve had a few kinks here or there and it’ll take us a little bit to get everything worked out but we are trying our hardest. I’ve got some really good people in here and they are starting to straighten out.”

Vallarta’s has 30 tables and looks to employ about 20 employees when fully staffed. Positions are still available.

“We are always looking for good help,” Uribe said. “Sometimes if I don’t have a spot, I will make spot. If I can’t use them up front, my husband (Jose) can use them in the kitchen.”

While staffing has created some of the hiccups, Uribe said the Pampa community has offered compliments.

“We’ve had lots of good compliments on how the food taste and that it’s their new favorite spot,” Uribe said.

Vallarta’s dining room is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Their bar is open until 11 p.m. every night.
