Vista Ridge Venue offers a new, rustic location for weddings and more

Posted

This past weekend, Vista Ridge Venue held their first wedding for Cassidy Crutchfield and Andrew Bichsel of White Deer.

Even though storms were looming in nearly every visible direction, the event went without a hitch and the venue shows promise to become a staple for weddings and a variety of other events in the future.

Craig and Kelly Cobb finished the venue on Sept. 1 after almost a year of construction.

The venue has a rustic barn atmosphere complemented by the rolling hills of the caprock.

“We have all of the amenities of outdoor,” Kelly said. “It’s something we always thought of doing and we had some friends who made a venue out of the hay-barn and silos and that’s where we got the idea. There’s not anything like this in our area right now so we are excited.”

Vista Ridge can hold about 200 people with not only inside but a perimeter of porch area along the outside. While this past weekend the venue saw it’s first wedding, the calendar is filling up with birthdays and other parties.

“We have a 60th birthday coming up, we can do receptions, office parties, Christmas parties,” Kelly said. “We’re going to do a fall/harvest festival of some sort. We’re planning for anything.”

The barn includes a full catering kitchen, a bar, seating both on the floor level or in an upstairs seating area. It also has entry ways on all four sides plus windows that drop open.

As for decorations, there is a storage room with more rustic decor and accessories with more than 350 chairs and table cloths. But renters are welcome to bring their own, as well. Decorators are welcome or Kelly will help with the decorating herself.

“They can either come in and do their own decorating or they can pay me,” Kelly said.

If an event is booked at least two weeks out, there is an added discount for the use of the venue.

A TABC licensed bartender and security must be booked if there will be alcohol.

One of the more unique characteristics of the venue is the silos featuring a bride and groom room each.

“They (the groom’s party) have Nintendo and movies for them, a bar set up and a poker table,” Kelly said. “The lighting goes up into the silo. This was the funnest thing to do.”

The bridal party’s room is set up with all of the needs they may need to get ready.

“We had probably 11 or 12 ladies in here, some were attendants and some were part of the party,” Kelly said.
