Wanda Beth Youngquist

Wanda Beth Youngquist, 85 years of age, of Pampa, Texas, passed from this life to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Borger Healthcare in Borger, Texas. She was born on July 31, 1937, in her parents tent on Wagner’s Pasture near Vernon, Texas. Her parents were Leslie and Mary Barron.

At the age of 15, she married her soulmate, Morris Youngquist which began their 66-year journey through life together before his passing. For the most part, Wanda remained a stay-at-home mom and housewife only working a few jobs throughout her life.

Wanda was very devout in her studies of God’s word and owned many bibles that aided in that endeavor. To continue her service to others she did coursework in Christian Counseling from Liberty University. Helping others and her community consumed her life, prompting her to obtain an EMT license to be able to be of further service.

Family was a vital part of her life. Although most knew her as a quiet person, amongst her loved ones a stubborn streak would appear, and she let everyone know her stance on any given situation. In her household she was the undisputed “Queen of Checkers” and wore her crown with much glee. Painting in oils and acrylics was a hobby that left her family with many precious heirlooms in the form of portraits of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Morris Youngquist; parents; son, Patrick Youngquist; grandson, Jerry Lee Youngquist; brother, Leslie Wayne Barron, Jr and a sister, Floy Pearl Sanders.

Those who remain to cherish her legacy are a son, Herbert Youngquist and wife Janice of Lone Grove, OK; two daughters, Marsha McFarland and husband Mike of Pampa, Wanda Herman and husband David of Edwardsville, KS; brother, Tommie Barron and wife Mary of Shallowater, TX; sister, Elvie Wadzeck and husband Doug of Pine Prairie, LA; six grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

In keeping Wanda’s wishes, the family will be attending a private graveside service at Miami Cemetery. The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.
