Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
This past week I told Vicki not to let me forget to do something. It is necessary because Vicki needs it for her coffee and is using it as she tries to do some things that are healthier. When the kids come over they want some. The doctor told me I needed more of it as well.
The truth is there is not a one of us that probably doesn’t need it on a day to day basis. It is something that we often take for granted, but in the context of our overall physical health as well as the well-being of the land it is needed. In fact we are in great need here in the Pampa area right now.
Okay, you’re asking what it is. Well, it’s water! At times we don’t think much about it, but when we need some and it’s not available, we really want it. Since Vicki uses the ‘clean’ water for her coffee, I go to the water mill and get it. I went and got 9 gallons this past week so I could make her coffee.
Oh, I could use it straight from the tap, but Vicki likes how the water from the water mill makes her coffee taste. Getting the water from the right place definitely makes a difference for her as well as others who drink it.
As I considered this of course I thought of the ‘perfect’ water that Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well about when she came for water in John 4:10-14
10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” 11 She said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep; where then do You get that living water? 12 You are not greater than our father Jacob, are You, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself, and his sons, and his cattle. 13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water shall thirst again; 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
There was no doubt that she was caught off guard. Not fully understanding what all was taking place. Here was a Jewish man talking to a Samaritan woman telling her about water that would bring eternal life. She questioned it then in v. 26 Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.”
Of course the woman left and went to tell others about Him. Then Jesus had opportunity to share with them and many believed in Him because of the testimony of the woman (v.39) and then many more believed because of His word (v.41). The ‘living water’ was bringing life to those who would believe.
You may not be at Jacob’s well, but I assure you that the One who is the ‘Living Water’ is still here and desires to bring eternal life to all who will believe. Jesus is still giving water to each person who comes to Him that ‘shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.’
In the Revelation 22:17 it says -- The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.
While we may have to go to the faucet to run water, the water mill to get drinking water or a well on the land; we must go to Jesus to find the ‘water of life’. Jesus is standing ready today to bring this ‘water of life’ to all who come to Him. Will you come to Him and drink?
JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!
