The competition phase of Pampa Harvester Football Championship Week has come to an exciting close. Each team and each member did their very best at accumulating the most points possible for their chance to win the golden football trophy, an exclusive Harvester t-shirt, and a delicious steak dinner. Though each team made an effort, it all came down to the final two challenges. Each member partook in a wrestling challenge and relay challenge to score additional points for their team. The wrestling challenge had one member from each team try to remove a green sock from the other players. The last one with the green sock on was the winner. The relay challenge had members from each team navigating their way around a tackle dummy and being the first to capture the golden flag.

For these two challenges, the winners from the Green Bracket and Gold Bracket were Team ETC and Team Joker. The overall winner for the competition phase of ‘Pampa Harvester Football Championship Week’ came down to a one point difference. With 35 points, Team ETC won first place for the overall competition phase with Team Joker coming in second place with 34 points.

Bensin Martinez, Team ETC Captain, spoke about the effort both teams have put in during the competition phase.

“The effort has been phenomenal. During the normal competition phase, the Jokers were the hardest team to beat. They gave their all every single day. They’re a bunch of tough dudes and we are lucky to have pulled this off,” Martinez said.

Jerry Machado, Team Joker Captain, gave his input about the overall spirit of the competition.

“I appreciate each and every one of my brothers. I love them all and we’re ready for the season,” Machado said.

John Arnett, Varsity Football coach and conductor for the final challenges, described the reasoning for the competition phase of the football team’s offseason.

“All the athletes did a great job today. We’ve been in competition phase since we came back from winter break. We want the athletes to understand that, in life, you want to be the best at everything you do,” Arnett said. “Overall, there’s nothing like being a Harvester.”
