Nancy Etchison

Nancy Etchison, 81, of White Deer, Texas, passed away on April 7, 2024, in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Friday April 12, 2024, at the Fairview Cemetery in Pampa with Pastor Alan Wilson of the First Baptist Church of White Deer, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:30 PM, Thursday April 11, 2024, at the funeral home.

Nancy was born on April 21, 1942, in Freeport, Texas, to Logan and Dorothy Fleming. 

The family moved to White Deer where Dorothy married Harold Conrad, and Nancy grew up and graduated school. 

After high school she attended college at West Texas State College in Canyon, Texas. 

Nancy would meet John Etchison while they were both working for Brown and Root Construction building Celanese. They later married in 1978, in Alabama.

Nancy and John would travel throughout the United States with a construction company, and they would live in various parts of the country.

Eventually, they came back to Texas where they became the caretakers of Lake McLellan where they managed, lived, and had fun fishing for several years. 

John would precede her in death in 1998. 

Nancy also spent time in the Groom area where she operated the J & N Truckstop and the Movie Motel.

The most important part of her life was her family, especially her grandchildren. 

Nancy will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Harold Conrad and Logan Fleming; her husband, John Etchison; and a grandson, Kelvin Finck.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, J’lynna Finck, and spouse Eddie of Groom, Texas; three sons, Jim Harris of Amarillo, Texas, Jay Harris and spouse Alissa of Redfield, Arkansas, and Justin Harris and spouse Stephanie of Panhandle, Texas. 

She is also survived by five stepchildren, Terry Etchison, Sherry Baker, Larry Etchison, Jamie Tackett, and Lori Sawyers.

Nancy was a loving grandmother to ten grandchildren, Jeneissa, Daniel, Nicky, Andrew, Scott, Hallie, Chloe, Aiden, Hannah, and Sidney; additionally; and she leaves behind four great-grandchildren.
