‘Evening on Broadway’ has been an annual thing for over 29 years with the Pampa High School Choral Department. The two night dinner -theatre event features 22 performances from the choir students, as well as a catered meal. While being a showcase for the kids and their vocal ability, it also serves as a fund raiser for the students going on the choirs’ trip of the that year.

“This has been a thing for many years, to help make the kids money towards our trip,” Director, Brianna Montgomery said. “It’s a fun night for everyone involved.”

The event will take place January 25th and 26th, and will also feature a silent auction. The ticket costs are $30 and a large portion of the money will go towards the students accounts that are going on the trip. This years trip will be to Florida, to visit Universal Studios as well as take part in a sound workshop with the Universal Studio’s sound engineers. They will also spend a couple of days at Disney Worlds Magic Kingdom.

The songs performed by the students are a mix of self picked songs or director picked songs.

“Some kids know what song they want to perform already,” Montgomery said. “But some students may not know which song they want, or just want us to pick, so that’s what we do. Mrs. May or myself will help them find a song.”

The ticket process won’t have the only option as it did last year, this year it will be through contacting a student in choir or by calling the high school and asking for the choir department. Last year the event took part at ‘The Harbor’ but this year they will be returning to the M.K. Brown.

“It’s a fun event for the kids, but also for the parents to come see the students perform,” Montgomery said. “But it’s all students doing the event, we have wonderful parents that help out behind the scene but the kids are performing and serving their guests.”

To purchase a ticket, contact a choir student or contact the high school at (806) 669-4800.
