Agnes was born April 30, 1922 in Zybach, Texas to John and Clara Forrest. She grew up on the farm and learned how to do chores and tend to the milk cows at an early age. She graduated from Canadian High School. Soon after high school, she met and married Bryant Flowers. They lived in Roberts County for 24 years. Agnes later married Luther “Junior” Brumfield in November of 1969 in Pampa. He passed away in 2019, just shy of their 50th wedding anniversary.
