All Effort, All Heart: Waldrip Selected to Wear #32

Posted

Every Friday evening in the fall you will see a player wearing #32. This number is special in Pampa High School Football history as it is the jersey number worn by Pro Football Hall of Fame member, Zach Thomas. As a tribute to Zach, the Pampa High School football program will be retiring #32 from the jersey circulation. From this day forward, jersey #32 will be worn every Friday night by a different individual. That individual embodies that competitive spirit which Zach Thomas displayed every Friday night in the fall. The individual will be voted on by the coaching staff.

The seventh individual to be selected by his coaching staff for this 2025 season to have the honor of wearing #32 will be Reese Waldrip, senior running back and defensive back. He normally bears #6 but for the West Plains game on Thursday he will be wearing the Zach Thomas #32.

How does it feel for Waldrip to be the next one selected?

“I feel so honored that my coaches have chosen me to wear jersey number 32. I’m excited to go and play knowing they have that trust in me to do what it takes,” Waldrip said. “Wearing #32 is not just a jersey number to me, it is a representation of how the game should be played and ultimately an example of the efforts you put towards the game.”

Reese does not play any other sports for the Harvesters and has no plays to continue football after high school.

He would love to attend Texas Tech University and major in Business. His plans are to go into the workplace after that!

“I think I want to go to college and major in business, and then, from there figure it out and narrow it down to what I want to do. I am open to any jobs and am looking for experience,” Waldrip said.

Some things he enjoys doing outside of football are hanging out with friends and going to the lake with his family.

Math is his favorite subject because he “knows it will be useful to me later in life,” Waldrip said.

Here is what Pampa’s Eric Langhenning, who is his position coach, had to say about Reese:

“I love that kid. He’s a worker and believes in himself. Anything you ask of him he is willing to do with a tremendous amount of effort. He has a lot of money in the bank with me and I wish I would have had more time with him. He’s an incredible young man that will be successful in whatever he chooses to do, that’s just who he is.”
