Betty Fern Tate, 93, of McLean, Texas died Saturday, February 24, 2024 in Shamrock, Texas.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Friday, March 1, 2024 in Alanreed Cemetery in Alanreed with Rev. Thacker Haynes, officiating.
Viewing will be held from 10:00 AM to !2:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Betty was born March 25, 1930 in Kellerville, Texas to Alma Ray and Nancy Leoma Canada Malone.
She married Lycurgus Sanders “Curg” Hill in 1948 and he preceded her in death on July 22, 1988.
She later married Orphus Tate, Sr. on January 12, 1995 in Wheeler and he preceded her in death in May 2001.
She had been a lifetime resident of the McLean area where she worked at Marie Foundations and Puckett’s Grocery Store prior to her retirement.
Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting, gardening, making jelly, and reading.
She was a devoted member of the Heald Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her brothers, Elmer Malone, Graley Malone, and Leroy Malone; her sisters, Doretha Richards, Wanda Everson, and Naomi Brown; a granddaughter, Karen Kile; a step son, Gerald Tate; and a step daughter, Nancy Zimmerman.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Guill of Carrolton and Brenda Ornberg of McLean; her step sons, Harry Tate and wife Shirley of Midland and Orphus Tate, Jr. of Buda; a grandson, James Martin; numerous great grandchildren; and special friends, Johnny, Deena, and Jacey Carter.
The family request memorials be sent to the Heald Methodist Church.
