Elizabeth (Betty) Martin Ward, 96, of Newcastle, Texas, died December 24, 2022, in Dallas. Betty and her family lived in Pampa, Texas, for several decades, where she was active in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and moved to Texas in 1934. She graduated from Graham High School in Graham, Texas, and attended what is now the University of North Texas in Denton. She was preceded in death by her parents, A.J. and Elizabeth (Lily) Martin of Pampa. Betty and her husband, the late B.G. Ward, moved from Pampa back to Young County in 1980. In the 1990s, Betty retired as Young County auditor. She was a lifelong gardener, avid reader, skilled baker and accomplished seamstress. Betty loved nature and enjoyed RV trips across Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Colorado. She is survived by her children, Patricia Ward, David Ward and Julie Ward; son-in-law Steve Wallach; and grandsons Jaxon Wallach and Daniel Wallach.
