Bill Gilreath, 76, of Pampa, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022, in Pampa.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor, officiating, and Rick Parnell, retired Baptist minister, assisting. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Bill will be available for viewing from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 29, 2022, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 30, 2022, and 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, December 1, 2022.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at the funeral home.

Bill was born on March 20, 1946, in Pampa to Luther Milburn and Florence Alma Jordan Gilreath. He was raised in Skellytown and attended schools in Skellytown and White Deer. After school, Bill met Paula Ramsey at Caldwell’s Drive-In in Pampa. The two fell in love and married on

November 1, 1968, at the First Baptist Church in Pampa.

From 1968 to 1973, Bill worked at Motor Inn Auto Supply in Pampa and Dumas. In 1969, the family moved to Dumas for the job, where he was promoted to Machine Shop Manager. He and the family moved back to Pampa in 1973. In October of 1973, Bill started his career as a machinist at Cabot and remained there until his retirement in 2008.

Bill and Paula loved retired life, traveling around, visiting family, and making their annual trip to Red River, New Mexico. Bill also loved muscle cars and enjoyed working on any car he could get his hands on. He could fix anything around the house too. Bill was a member at Central Baptist Church, where he taught the preschool Sunday School class until 2015. Bill was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sue Ramsey.

He is survived by his wife, Paula of the home; three sons, Anthony Gilreath of Amarillo, Billy Gilreath, Jr. and wife Tina, and David Gilreath, all of Woodward, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Dr. Jamin Brown and wife Taylor of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jacob Gilreath of Houston, and Nik Gilreath of Goppingen, Germany; great-grandchildren, Ella Brown and Emma Brown of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nephews, Mark Ramey of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Jay Tarvin, and Scott Tarvin, both of Amarillo; sister-in-law, Patricia Tarvin of Amarillo; and close friends, Debie and Larry White of Amarillo, and John and Kelley Bilyeu and their daughters, Lacey and Kaley, all of Pampa.
