On February 5, the residents of Pampa will be introduced to Laura’s Country Kitchen, a down home cooking establishment owned and operated by a woman who isn’t afraid of an open flame.

Laura King, a Texan by birth and resident of Gray County for the last ten years, will be embarking on her own adventure with a passion she wishes to share with the community.

“I’ve been listening to what people want in this area and was given the opportunity to buy my own place and decided to embark on this journey for myself and for my family. I’ve been working hard for everyone else, so why not work hard for myself?” she said.

King is no stranger to the restaurant scene, going as far back to when she was running her father’s restaurant and catering business in Clarendon, TX until his retirement.

After relocating to Pampa, King worked for Dyer’s BBQ for five years, Fire Creek for three years, and then Texas Rose in Canyon for a year and a half, having experience both in customer service and in the kitchen.

With that kind of expertise, King is ready to extend her services to Pampa with her own signature style.

“My end goal is to provide the community of Pampa a great place to gather with friends and family and enjoy a friendly atmosphere and a great home cooked meal everytime,” she said.

“I want it to be almost like you’re gathering at Grandma’s house for family lunch after church.”

Laura’s Country Kitchen will be offering a full breakfast menu, a daily lunch buffet and salad bar, and will offer southern staples such as BBQ, chicken fried steak, chicken tenders, and burgers with homemade cobblers and desserts.

When inquired about whether or not she has gone through the hiring process, King said that she would be taking applications this week.

“I’m looking for people who want to be part of a team and who love people,” she said.

“I truly believe you cannot be successful if you don’t have that mentality. It takes everyone to make a place successful so my only requirement is that you work hard and want to be on the team. My number one goal is great customer service!”

Supporting her new endeavor is her husband of twelve and a half years, Sean King.

“He is always supportive in everything I do. He has been helping me reach my goals by remodeling the building, running all over the Panhandle picking up equipment and basically just giving me the moral support to get this place up and running.”

Laura’s Country Kitchen is planned to open at 6 AM on Monday, February 5, located at 2420 Alcock on the corner of Price Road in Pampa.
