Carol Ann Dunham, 82, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 in Pampa.
Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Paul Greene, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Carol was born November 1, 1939 in Lubbock to William Carrol and Fannie Griffiths. She was a graduate of Pampa High School in the class of 1957. After high school, she went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in secondary education in English and Art, graduating from West Texas State College in 1961. On December 28, 1960, she married Richard A. “Dick” Dunham. Soon after they married, Richard, became a commissioned officer in the US Army. They had the opportunity to travel all over the United States, living in various states, with her favorites being Alaska and Hawaii. She loved being a military wife and being able to meet people from all over. In the summer of 1982, Richard retired from the military, and they moved back to Pampa. That is when Carol began her teaching career at Pampa Middle School, teaching 6th grade art and English. She enjoyed her 6th grade teaching team and all the students she taught. Carol retired in 1991. She was an accomplished artist, mainly in oil painting. Her time in Alaska is when she started most of her paintings. She was able to paint many different pictures and even sell some of them to tourists at local art shows. While they lived in Alaska, she also enjoyed taking the motorhome and camping with her family. She has been a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Pampa and has always been active in church activities anywhere she lived. She helped teach Sunday School, helped with vacation bible school, and was involved in women’s bible studies. Carol loved her family and especially when they were all together. She was NaNa to her 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and loved travelling to each of their activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Richard A. “Dick” Dunham of the home; a son, Rick Dunham and wife Debbi of Dalhart; a daughter, Cami Skaggs and husband Randy of Perryton; 6 grandchildren, Austin Dunham and wife Jessica of White Deer, Riley Pack and husband Chance of Amarillo, Shelby Tiemann and husband Chuck of Bushland Brynn Johnson and husband Zack of Plano, Addison Skaggs of Columbus, Ohio, and Hayden Dunham of Grapevine; 10 great grandchildren, Landree Dunham, Emoree Dunham, Cooper Pack, Coulter Pack, Collier Johnson, Hollann Johnson, Porter Johnson, Brook Tiemann, Berkley Tiemann, Reese Tiemann, and a grandson on the way in September; brother-in-law, Duane Dunham and wife Linda of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.s
