Carolyn Hagemann, lovingly known as “Nanny,” went to be with our Father in Heaven on October 9, 2025, just weeks before her 62nd birthday.
Born on Halloween in 1963 to Dave and Mary Gilmer, Carolyn was the youngest of five siblings—a spirited child who delighted in teasing her older brothers and sister: David, Jim, Bill and MaryNell. She treasured quiet mornings fishing with her daddy.
She graduated from Brisco High School in Texas and married Billy “Kirk” Douglas shortly after. Together, they welcomed two children: Amanda and Dustin Douglas. Carolyn wore many hats throughout her life, from EMT to seamstress, always pouring her soul into everything she did. She was the first to offer shelter, a hot meal, or a helping hand to anyone in need-human or animal. Her home was a sanctuary, and her love was boundless. However, Carolyn wasn’t herself without Dr. Pepper.
Later in life, she met the love of her life, Roy Dale Dominey. Their union brought joy, laughter, and four grandchildren: Savanna, Donovan, Liana, and Neveah. Carolyn’s heart was never limited by blood—she also gained bonus children through the years: Oaty Scott, Ginny Forbes, and George Keely, embracing them as her own.
After Roy’s untimely passing, Carolyn found companionship again with James Hagemann. Through this marriage, she gained four more bonus children—Amy, Chad, Christy, and Logan—and welcomed twelve bonus grandchildren: Stephanie, Lindsey, Johnathan, Nicholas, Ryan, Samantha, Drake, Anthony, Angelina, Andrew, Colt, and Nadia.
Carolyn was also blessed with several great-grandchildren. She held a special closeness with Daniel, Marissa, Carlos, Matthew, Talia, Isaiah, Christian, Kiam, Eli, Lorenzo, Jasper, Mykal, Michaela, Jasper, and Joanna.
Nanny had several nieces and nephews and extended family that she cherished. She was very close to her niece, Reba. And held a special bond with, Will and Tiffany Barnes, JR. and Robin Whinery, Jennifer Ragains-Stuteville, Anthony Chavez, Shelli, Cody and Cheyenne Bowers, Neal Gardner, and her beloved cat Zeus.
She will be met at the pearly gate by Dave Gilmer, Mary Williams, Reba Gilmer, Roy Dominey, Vicky Gilmer, Donna Shipp, Matthew Loyd, Joe Valdez, her husband James Hagemann and their fur baby Spooky.
