Concepcion “Chon” Bensor, 83, of Pampa, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022, in Pampa, surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral mass will be at 2:30 PM Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Taylor Elzner of St. Laurence Catholic Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Rosary will be at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, December 27, 2022 in the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel.

Concepcion “Chon” Bensor was born on December 8, 1939, in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico to Alberto and Soledad Venzor-Cazares. He grew up in Chihuahua, attending school there and working with his family. Chon married Rita Falcon-Rivas on September 11, 1964. While in Mexico, Chon worked on farms and did other agricultural work. In 1987, he moved to Monahans, Texas to work in the oil field. In 2001, Chon retired and moved to Pampa to be closer to his children.

Chon had several hobbies that he enjoyed. He would always drink his early-morning coffee, loved to take walks, and collected all kinds of cans. He was a true dumpster diver and would stop at any dumpster he came across. Chon spent a lot of time with his family, playing the guitar, drinking his Natural Light, and saying his favorite word, “orale”. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Chon is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his seven children, Silvia Venzor and husband Jose, Rosa Olivas and husband Manuel, Lorenzo Venzor and wife Priscilla, Sergio Venzor and wife Reina, Luis Venzor and wife Maria, Victoria Gomez and husband Alfredo, and Miriam Venzor; 30 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous other extended family members.
